The Deuter Futura Pro 40 is a hiking pack built for longer multi-day hikes where comfort and organization matter just as much as capacity. At 40 liters, it sits in a practical range for carrying overnight or light multi-day gear, and its recommended load of 6-10 kg reflects where this pack is designed to work best. Deuter’s Aircomfort back system uses a flexi spring steel frame and full-length mesh back panel to create clear airflow between the pack and your back, which helps on long climbs and warm trail days. The VariClick system gives you five-stage back length adjustment from 42-62 cm, with an audible click when set, while shoulder straps anchored directly to the frame improve load transfer and the padded hip fins spread weight evenly onto the hips.

In use, the layout is straightforward and useful. You get quick top access to the main compartment, a zip-out divider with a separate bottom compartment, two lid compartments, two hip fin pockets, a large front stretch pocket, and a side stretch pocket with dual access so items like a water bottle stay within reach without taking the pack off. Quick-release pole attachments on the shoulder straps keep poles close at hand, and details like the rain cover, hydration compatibility up to 3L, wet compartment, glasses stow system, and one-handed sternum buckle make it well sorted for full days on the move. Deuter also backs the pack with recycled body fabric, a PFAS-free construction, bluesign® product status, and ClimatePartner certification.

600D means that 9,000 meters of yarn weigh 600 grams.
