Assist Belay Resistor

The Mammut Assist Belay Resistor is built for one of the more common real-world belay problems: climbing with a partner who is significantly lighter or heavier than you. It attaches to the first quickdraw and increases rope friction so a lighter belayer can more effectively catch and hold a heavier lead climber’s weight. In use, the patented cam mechanism activates only during a fall or while lowering, so you still get dynamic belaying and easier rope feed when the system isn’t under load.

That balance is what makes it practical. The Assist helps equalize weight differences up to 35 kg when clipped to a quickdraw, or up to 45 kg in Boost Mode when attached to the first bolt with a locking carabiner for faster engagement. It’s also designed to activate even when only the first quickdraw is set, which helps reduce the risk of groundfalls. For gym sessions and sport days where partner weights don’t line up neatly, it’s a straightforward tool that adds control without overcomplicating the belay.
