Shipping to the U.S. – Important Update

Starting August 29, 2025, the U.S. government is making major changes to how packages entering the country are treated. Up until now, American customers could order goods under $800 USD from Canada without paying duties or customs fees. That “duty-free” allowance is going away.

From that date forward, every package shipped from Canada to the U.S. will be subject to duties, no matter the value.

What this means when you order from us

We ship U.S. orders with Canada Post, which hands off to USPS once your package crosses the border. Under the new rules, USPS will apply duties when the shipment arrives in the U.S. and will collect those charges directly from you before delivering the package.

Between August 29, 2025 and February 28, 2026, the U.S. is using a temporary flat-fee system for postal shipments:

  • $80 per package for lower-tariff countries (including Canada if covered)

  • $160–$200 per package for higher-tariff countries

After March 2026, USPS will move to a percentage-based system (called ad-valorem), which means duties will be charged as a percentage of the product’s value instead of a flat fee.

Why the change is happening

The U.S. is closing the so-called “de minimis” loophole. This rule previously let small packages under $800 enter the country without duties. By removing it, the government wants all imports — large or small — to go through customs so that duties and taxes are collected consistently.

The takeaway for our U.S. customers

When you place an order on our site after August 29, 2025, the checkout total will cover your products and shipping only. Duties and any applicable taxes will be collected by USPS when your package is delivered. The exact amount depends on how U.S. Customs applies the new rules at the time your order crosses the border.

We want to be transparent so you’re not caught off guard. While these changes are outside our control, we’ll continue working on ways to make the process smoother — including exploring options to show landed costs at checkout in the future.

In short: starting August 29, all U.S. orders will come with duties charged on delivery. Please be prepared for these additional costs when ordering from Canada.
