Originally from Toronto, Michelle started skiing when she was 3 years old. Michelle grew up travelling to Western Canada on family ski holidays, so it was an easy place to call home once she moved here after university. Once settled in Bow Valley, Michelle discovered yoga after fracturing her pelvis in a ski accident. She is now a licensed yoga instructor and teaches at various studios in the Bow Valley. During the shoulder seasons, she teaches Avalanche Canada youth programs and during the summer months, Michelle splits her time between working as a ACMG hiking guide and serving at a local hot spot in town.

1) What’s your favourite place you’ve ever skied? Baffin Island. 2) Who inspires you? My Grandma. She was the kindest, smartest, and most supportive woman who in many ways was ahead of her time. 3) What's your favourite thing about living in Banff? The community. 4) Where can people usually find you if you’re not skiing? On a yoga mat. 5) What attracted you to become an ACMG Hiking guide? I wanted to assume a leadership role in the mountains and I love sharing what our backyard has to offer.

I don’t see myself leaving the valley anytime soon. I’d love to see my yoga & hiking programs gain momentum over the next few years. Other than that, I just want to ski!
