In 1856, Charles Orvis turned his hobby of fly rod building into a business in Manchester, Vermont. He called it the C.F. Orvis Company. Early on, Orvis developed a reputation for fine fly-fishing equipment, including rods, reels and flies. Today, that reputation for excellence continues.
